Linda Haddock

ELC Board President

Hello! My name is Linda Haddock and I am a member of the JCLC board. I am a licensed teacher in special education and elementary education. I have 34 years of teaching experience with 24 of those years spent in early childhood special education. I have five years of volunteer experience at ELC providing literacy enrichment and classroom assistance. I am married and have three adult sons and four grandchildren. Although I am now retired from teaching, I still want to have an opportunity to work with young children and help them develop a love of learning.

Anne Guthrie

ELC Board Secretary

Hello! My name is Anne Guthrie and I am a member of the JCLC board. I have a BS in Elementary Education from Kent State University and I have my MLS from Indiana University. I am a certified ECRR trainer for early literacy from ALA. I spent a year as a teacher’s aide to 3-5 year olds in Concordia Lutheran Preschool and I also spent 11 years as a children’s librarian/preschool early literacy specialist. I have been married to my husband Larry for 35 years and together we have three, home-educated children. Our daughter Alyssa has a masters from Notre Dame and works for the Ohio Judiciary at the Ohio Supreme Court. Our son Andrew graduated from Purdue and is a helicopter pilot and captain in the Marine Corps. Andrew’s wife Ting recently finished her doctorate in early childhood development and they have our only grandchild, Alexander, who is 5 months old. Our other daughter Abby graduated from Hanover and taught kindergarten in South Korea for a year and is now a freelance tutor for kindergarten through adult there. I strongly believe that the first five years of a child’s life is crucial for his or her intellectual, psychological and social development. I also believe that society should do everything possible to foster optimum environments for all children.

JoAnn Hurt

ELC Board Member

My name is JoAnn Hurt. I have been a teacher for 33 years. I have taught pre-K, Kindergarten, and first grade. I have worked with students individually and in small groups in grades K-8. I have taught college and graduate college students as well! At church I have taught ages 2 and 3 and pre-K for Sunday School. I have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and a bachelor’s degree in Primary Education, a Reading Specialist degree, a master’s degree in Elementary Education and a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership. I believe that the learning experiences children have in early childhood are critical to success in later life. Early childhood education should help children develop curiosity and creativity, inspiring a life long love for learning. Early childhood education should help children become confident and empathetic, inspiring a belief and trust in themselves and others. It is through community, play, and exploration that children learn these critical life skills. I have been privileged to be a part of this journey for kids throughout my career. I believe learning is a lifelong process. In my free time, I enjoy singing in the church choir. I also enjoy reading and crafting.
